Hello John, I noticed that on p. 396 of your The History of The Hobbit you mention that among the characteristics of the elves of British folk-lore "was their ability to vanish from mortals' sight in the blink of an eye". I just wanted to point out that Tolkien's Hobbits had this ability as well, though in that case the "mortals" were the Big Folk.
